Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda (born 24 March 1966) is a Nigerian lawyer, politician, and legislator. He currently represents Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
On 21 May 2026, Hon. Chinda emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Rivers State following the withdrawal of other aspirants, including the incumbent Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Tonye Cole, and Alabo Dakorinama George-Kelly.
Early Life and Education
Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda was born into the family of the late Chief Thomson Worgu Chinda of Elelenwo Town in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. He hails from the Chidamati Family of Rumuodikirike Compound in the community of Rumuodani, Elelenwo.
He was raised under the guidance of Chief (Barr.) Mrs. E. N. Ogan and later Chief (Barr.) and Mrs. C. A. W. Chinda, whose mentorship contributed significantly to his personal and professional development.
His educational journey began at State School I, Orogbum, Port Harcourt, after which he attended Stella Maris College, Port Harcourt, and the Rivers State School of Basic Studies. He proceeded to the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu, Port Harcourt (now Rivers State University), where he obtained his law degree. He subsequently attended the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1995.
Legal Career
A distinguished legal practitioner, Hon. Chinda is a leading partner at Onyeagucha, Chinda & Associates, a law firm with offices in Port Harcourt, Owerri, and Abuja.
Throughout his legal career, he has built extensive experience in areas including constitutional law, human rights, environmental law, class actions, and public interest litigation. His legal practice has been characterized by a strong commitment to justice, the rule of law, and the protection of the rights of ordinary citizens.

Political Career
Hon. Chinda has held several strategic political and public service positions, including:
- Legal Adviser, Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM)
- Legal Adviser, People's Democratic Party (PDP), Obio/Akpor Local Government Area (1999–2004)
- Legal Adviser, Obio/Akpor Local Government Council (2005–2007)
- Commissioner for Environment, Rivers State (2008–2010)
- Member, House of Representatives representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency
Over the years, he has earned a reputation as an experienced legislator, legal expert, and advocate for democratic governance, accountability, and sustainable development.
Personal Life
Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda is married to Mrs. Beauty A. Chinda, and they are blessed with three children: Angel, Arabella, and Praise.
