Rep. O. K. Chinda’s 2nd Phase ICT Training Empowers Professionals in Obio/Akpor with Digital Skills

As part of his ongoing commitment to human capacity development and digital inclusion, Rep. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, Member representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, launched the second phase of the ICT Training for Professionals in Obio/Akpor. The programme forms part of a broader constituency-wide digital empowerment initiative aimed at equipping residents with the knowledge and skills required to thrive in today’s technology-driven world.

The ICT training is one of several empowerment programmes championed by Rep. Chinda to bridge the digital divide and prepare constituents for opportunities in the modern digital economy. Designed for professionals, graduates, young people, and aspiring technology enthusiasts, the initiative focuses on building practical skills that improve employability, innovation, and economic self-reliance.

Building Digital Capacity in Obio/Akpor

The training programme covers a broad range of in-demand digital competencies, including digital literacy, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and the integration of ICT into professional practice. Specialized sessions have also been organized for professionals such as science teachers, enabling them to incorporate modern technology into teaching and learning while improving digital education across schools within the constituency.

This second phase builds on the success of previous ICT empowerment programmes and reinforces Rep. Chinda’s vision of creating a digitally empowered constituency capable of competing in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.

Part of a Wider Human Capacity Development Initiative

The ICT training programme complements several other constituency empowerment initiatives implemented across the 17 wards of Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency. These include vocational skills acquisition, agricultural support programmes, entrepreneurship development, mechanical and technical training, and other capacity-building initiatives designed to create sustainable economic opportunities for residents.

By combining digital skills development with vocational and entrepreneurial empowerment, the programme provides participants with practical tools needed to improve their careers, start businesses, and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of Rivers State.
